Grape: 50% Malbec & 50% Jurancon Noir (forbidden grape)

from rebellious winemaker, fabien jouves, we have this utter treat! 

grapes are hand-harvested from a single 0.5 hectare plot of biodynamic vines - undergo a spontaneous ferment in whole bunches - macerated on skins for 7 days - aged in a mix of concrete tanks, foudres & barrels for about 6 months - bottled without filtration, fining or any added so2 - very limited production, only 250 cases produced!

strict french wine law does not allow the use of the jurancon noir grape in cahors aoc wines, so when regulators told jouves that he had to stop using the grape or lose his designation, he chose to classify his wines under the vdf rather than lose the grape

the wine is light & rustic, with notes of black cherry, raspberry, black olives, herbs - it has big tannins for how light it is!
