a wine that's as mysterious as it is delicious - a really earthy & mineral syrah with lots of smoke & incense on the nose & a palate that almost tastes like iron - lots of black fruit, salted plums & violet notes
grapes come from the steelhead run vineyard (a cool/moderate climate site with rocky soils) - vines were planted in 1993 - fermented whole-cluster for 7 days - followed by 20 days of occasional foot treading - then another 35 days of submerged cap extended maceration - aged in a mixture of oak & stainless steel
